Oh Really? Early Death Comes From Drinking Distilled Water

 A quick search on Google for “Early Death Comes from Drinking Distilled Water” will show that this phrase has been quoted 7,400 times on the internet. This statement is not only false, it is being circulated by three irresponsible medical doctors with financially motivated ulterior motives. I will explain later.

Second only to air or oxygen, water is the most important element on earth for supporting life. Why is it, then, that water seems to be the most misunderstood element on earth and yet our bodies and the earth are composed of 70% water?

 Water, a chemical substance (H2O) which contains one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms held together by covalent bonding, exists in liquid, gaseous and solid forms and can be colorless, odorless and tasteless. Commonly known as the universal solvent, many things can be dissolved by or chemically changed by water. Therefore, pure water is hard to find in nature other than the water trapped in glaciers.

 Humans cannot live more than 8-14 days without water since every organ, function and bodily fluid is dependent upon having the right amount of water to function properly. As a consequence, most disease is either directly or indirectly related to dehydration, a condition of the body being starved of water. The present generation as a whole drinks just about anything but water – anything to titillate the taste buds and give them a sugar or caffeine rush.

 It’s a well-known fact that chemicals and known carcinogens are present in most municipal water supplies nationwide. This has resulted in the multimillion dollar bottled water industry in addition to innumerable water purification and filtering devices. There are thousands of bottled water and filter companies all sharing reasons why you should not drink their competitor’s water, or use this filter or that purifier, or why their product is the best one and their competitor’s water will slowly kill you.

 Water is consumed to:

  • replenish your blood, lymph, lubricants, digestive juices, bodily fluids;

  • control body temperature;

  • transport nutrients to every cell of the body; and

  • carry away waste.

So doesn’t it make logical sense to use the cleanest water possible? Since most of the minerals found in water are not chelated (can’t be absorbed by the body), as are dozens of other chemical and inorganics, doesn’t it make sense to remove everything else and end up with pure, clean, healthy water? Especially since we derive all our minerals from our food, not water.

 So what do you think spreads propaganda about distilled water and reverse osmosis water which are free of any type of polluting substance? The answer to that would be, anyone selling a carbon filter water purifier. There are three basic reasons for this:

  1. carbon filters are inexpensive, making them affordable for anyone;

  2. there is an extremely high profit margin because of low manufacturing costs;

  3. carbon filters will remove many chemicals including chlorine.

 However, carbon filters do not remove everything, including both organic and inorganic non-chelated minerals which can contribute to plaque buildup, kidney stones, gallstones and other related diseases.

The marketers of the cheaper carbon filter systems will use this fact to discourage the consumption of distilled or purified water with a pH of seven and less than two parts per million of impurities. In addition to implying that all the minerals in water are good for your body, they will say that because distilled and purified water is clean and called “hungry,” valuable minerals and nutrients will be leached from your body.

 The proponents of many filters, ionizers and alkaline water go so far as to claim that distilled water is acidic from sucking carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. They say that by drinking distilled water you can turn your body acidic. This is a claim made by those marketing alkaline water machines and carbon filter systems.

Dr. Andrew Weil M.D. is one of the most respected medical doctors, nutritionists and alternative medicine practitioners in the world today. He was nominatd by Newsweek magazine as being one of the top 100 most influential people in the world and is a regular guest on dozens of talk shows such as Oprah, Larry King, Dr. Oz, Good Morning America and the Today Show. He not only called alkaline water is a hoax, but he himself drinks distilled water and advocates it to promote good health.

 Dr. Joseph Mercola, MD, claims that “Early Death Comes From Drinking Distilled Water” along with Dr, Zoltan Rona, Dr. Pavlo Ariola, ND, and several others. As I said earlier, there are 7,400 direct quotes on the internet. This statement is unprofessional and irresponsible coming from medical practitioners who know better.

This might explain why these doctors have been written up on QuackWatch (Internet site) and why Mercola has been cited by the FDA for making false claims about several of the products that he sells on his website. Did I mention that Dr. Mercola sells Aquasana Filters (Multi-Level Marketing Company)?

 These doctors all claim that distilled water is acidic and will change the body’s pH. This is coming from medical “Nutrition Experts” whom we entrust with our lives and health. Katherine Zeratsky, R.D., L.D. of the renowned Mayo Clinic, states that any claims that a food, supplement or type of water can change your body’s pH are not true.

Dr. Gabe Mirkin, M.D., says, “Consuming any type of food, product, supplement or special water will not change the blood’s pH. If you’re told your body is too acidic and they claim you need their product to raise the pH, you are being conned; don’t trust anything they have to say.” Dr. Mirkin, is board-certified in sports medicine, allergy and immunology, pediatric immunology and pediatrics. Dr. Mirkin is a fellow at Johns Hopkins Medical School, Associate Clinical Professor in Pediatrics at the Georgetown University School of Medicine and an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland.

In 1972 at age 25 I read two books by the late Dr. Paul Bragg, “The Shocking Truth About Water” and “The Miracle of Fasting.” At the time, I was crippled from gout; and after reading those books I started drinking distilled water and began a fast that lasted 19 days. The gout vanished after 16 days and I have been drinking one to one and a half gallons of distilled water daily and fasting every year for the past 40 years. I have never been sick or taken any medication for sickness, not even an aspirin. I just completed a 40 day fast and a 20 day fast consecutively, with 12 days of fruit and veggies in between the two fasts.

Oh, by the way, I have not died an early death yet, Dr. Mercola…I’m in perfect health at 65!

Health and Longevity comes from drinking pure, clean, distilled water.
